CUAUHTEMOC PEREZ
Temo was born in 1957 in the city of Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexio. He immigrated to Texas with his family and lived in Ohio from 1989 to the present. From a very early age he knew that art would play a major role in his life. He is a self taught, untrained artist whose art is a product of pure necessity. In 2000, he took a few evening classes and participated in some Ohio art festivals. He won best of show in 2005 at Spectrum Gallery's Abstract Show in Toledo. He took an artistic welding class instructed by nationally known sculptor Jim Havens. He also enjoys carving in limestone, soapstone, and alabaster.
Temo sometimes draws inspiration from his interest in ancient Aztec culture. His color saturated, high contrasting, oil and acrylic paintings are often described as symbolic, surreal, inventive, surprising and occasionally unsettling. He often looks inward and allows whatever is there to emerge and express itself in images born in his imagination. A collector of his works is not only taking home a magnificant painting, but truly a part of his soul. Temo doesn't hold to the expectations of others, but remains true to his vision...
